THE 45TH ANNUAL GINGERBREAD TRAIL.  Victorian, Gingerbread, Gothic Revival, and Queen Anne are a few architectural styles you'll see in Waxahachie.  The 45th Annual Gingerbread Trail celebrates this architecture on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd, 10 AM to 4 PM.  Tour our special selection of five private homes. Get the inside scoop on restoration triumphs and local ghost lore.  Visit historically recognized buildings such as the newly restored Ellis County Courthouse, the Ellis County Museum, Sims Library, Ellis County Art Museum and view vintage automobiles parked around the downtown square.


EXPLORE THE ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR IN GETZENDANER PARK. Under cool, towering oaks, enjoy colorful crafts and artwork from across the state.  Artists present creative gift ideas.  There are fun children's activities, live music, and plenty of refreshments to satisfy your gastronomic adventures. PAINT HISTORIC WAXAHACHIE!  The Ellis County Art Association presents a PAINT OUT competition from May 24th through June 2nd. Landscape artists set up their easels and paint "on location" throughout the historic downtown and along Waxahachie’s "Gingerbread Trail". Special artist activities include a 90 minute "quick draw" competition on North College Street - 4:00 PM, Thursday, May 30th, followed by a silent auction at 5:30 PM. Exhibition and "wet paint sale" of more than 100 paintings completed during the 10 day event, June 1st and 2nd. COURTHOUSE TOURS. The Ellis County Courthouse is open for public tours during the Gingerbread Trail. Take this opportunity to view this exquisite building, ranked in the top twenty architecturally significant structures in Texas. Tours offered from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday and noon - 2 PM on Sunday by Historic Waxahachie, Inc. and the Ellis County Historical Commission.

LIVE MUSIC AT GETZENDANER PARK.

TREASURE HUNT WAXAHACHIE'S EXCEPTIONAL ANTIQUE AND SPECIALTY SHOPPING DISTRICT.  Primitives, Early American furniture, dolls, pottery, hand made dresses, award-winning tea rooms, bakeries, and restaurants are all within a casual stroll.

New Children Events Hosted by 2013 Gingerbread Arts & Crafts Show


Future artists, budding gardeners and kids who just want to have fun will be the focus of the Gingerbread Arts & Crafts Show free children’s event held June 1 and 2 at Getzendaner Park.  “We have created new activities especially for children that will entertain the whole family, announced Suzanne Walker, Arts & Crafts Chairwoman.  “While Mom & Dad are shopping for one-of-a-kind arts and crafts, the kids can enjoy their own mini-festival.  The supplies are free and kids can take home their creative projects.  Some of the fun:

ART IN THE PARK

For children and teenagers, the E.C.A.A. (Ellis County Art Association) is sponsoring: “Plein Air, The Next Generation”.  “En Plein Air” is painting what you see in a natural setting.  Local E.C.A.A. members will furnish free paint supplies and gentle instruction for young artists.  It’s a brand new program directed by the E.C.A.A. who have been dedicated to bringing “Art to Life” in Ellis County for more than 55 years.  Sunday Only – 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

TEA PARTY TIME

Get those pinkies up!  For children 10 and under, it’s Tea Party Time.  Dress up with a flower barrette and frilly scarf and enjoy free lemonade, tea & cookies.  Be charmed by the Waxahachie Cherokee Charmers as they serve children with good manners.  There is limited seating.  Assigned times and reservations are required.  Please call Teresa McNiel at 214-244-0711 or 972-351-5031.  Sunday Only – 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

DO IT YOURSELF GARDEN STONE

Use your imagination to decorate a concrete stepping stone. Shells, colored glass, paint and more are supplied by MosaicMadness. Stepping stones supplied by F.B. Potter Concrete Company.  Saturday only - 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

THE FARM GIRLS & THE DFW FARM TRUCK

Come dig with Texas celebrities, THE FARM GIRLS and their DFW FARM TRUCK. Dress like a farmer, learn how to plant herbs and weigh vegetables. Saturday and Sunday - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

BOUNCE HOUSE

Bounce off all that energy in the Bounce House. Sponsored by Remedy Church.  Saturday and Sunday - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

PARK PONY RIDES

Pony rides available for $5.00. Come see the smallest pony in the area!  “Tiny Tina” the 2 foot tall baby pony for $1.00. Saturday and Sunday - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
