Are you a wine lover? Believe it or not, Texas has over 280 wineries that have started up since 1978. And they are growing and producing some of the nations best wines. If you love wines and would love to visit our Texas wineries, there is another thing you might want to get involved with, harvesting the grapes! Yes, that is what I said!
Many of the Texas wineries offer guest participation in their grape harvest. Most are small family wineries and grape harvesting requires a little manual labor. If you like the outdoors, love wine, this a great opportunity. The works not hard and the fellowship and camaraderie is great, worth the trip by itself. Plus, the wineries really appreciate the help and most turn the event into a working wine tasting party and have great fun.

We are scheduling another volunteer harvest weekend for August 9th and 10th in Meridian. We will start picking around 6:15 in the morning, and will end around 11:00 with lunch provided. Bring a hat, gloves, close-toed shoes, and pruners if you have them. Volunteers will most likely be needed from now until the end of August, so if you cannot make the event on Saturday, you still have several opportunities to come out and give us a hand.
