The other day I was having breakfast at one of my favorite restaurants, Kim and Jenny's, in downtown Midlothian, and noticed a few new businesses nearby. Being a reporter, I decided to explore all the new businesses.
Along North 8th Street there is quaint little park with lots of shade, important to all Texans, as well as a historic cabin. This is the area where the farmers market sets up shop on Saturdays during the summer. There is plenty of parking with all businesses easily accessible on foot. The downtown area, while not as large as some of the other towns here in Ellis County, does have a good number of shops and restaurants offering a nice variety of wares and services.
One store I had not visited in awhile is located just around the corner from Kim and Jenny's. It is Heaven's Attic, which obviously had just undergone an extensive remodeling. The store looks totally different and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It looks great! Heaven's Attic is a thrift store and is part of the Manna House humanitarian organization. Local residents donate all types of goods to help those in need. With all the remodeling, Heaven's Attic now looks like a high-end boutique. Wandering around the store, everything was neat and nicely displayed. There was a good selection of very nice-looking clothing plus shoes, accessories, furniture, appliances, and much more for sale. And, the prices looked good too.
So, if you happen to be in Midlothian, Heaven's Attic is a good destination to find some good deals on all type of items, and you can feel good knowing you are helping those in need.
Heaven's Attic is located at 212 West Avenue F, just a block off North 8th Street, and is open Monday through Friday, 10:00am until 5:30pm, and on Saturday, 10:00am until 4:00pm. Their telephone number is 972-775-1992.
